I rather prefer the way Brussels reacted [tempsreel.nouvelobs.com] to how Paris took it — they even got the metro running by the end of the day and seemed to handle it pretty seamlessly — though I suppose, being first, the context in Paris was slightly different.

Intro translated:

"Following the attacks in Brussels, establishments remained open, and the Place de la Bourse did not really fill up with people. The attacks in Paris left people stunned, but those in Brussels did not surprise the Belgians."

Espresso in Spiegelau's crystal digestif glass (designed for spirits) is…incredible.

So that's decided: I'll use the larger spirits tulip for actual spirits, and the smaller ones for espresso. Knew there was I reason I bought them — making up the 50€ aside, of course.

A little bit, yes. There's still exam revision to do and my boss is keeping me busy writing newsletters, but no more uni stuff to hand in.

Oh, and start applying for master's degrees.

Thanks :P

@height8 Yes, now I get to be in a state of suspense until they finish marking it :P

I just stared at it for a few minutes, letting the memories come back…

Dissertation printed, bound, and submitted.

Heh.

Hehe.

Currently they're using some other service whose name I don't know. Probably whatever service is cheapest…this company also has a few computers still running XP, and their "server" is a tower next to the water cooler — it handles mail and files (frankly I'm surprised they didn't try to self-host with that thing). The IT guy himself doesn't have admin passwords because it's leased from a vendor, so even changing folder permissions requires submitting a ticket.

//

In this case it's especially stupid: the boss wants .docx so she can edit and play with the formatting in WYSIWYG. But the final output is email (newsletter-style thing), so she then sends the .docx to the only IT-competent guy who converts it to HTML before sending it off.

Unrelated: he's pretty much always the last one to leave the office.

Since they send thousands of these emails that look more or less the same, it would surely make a lot more sense to have some sort of form-style input. But no.

@height8 Oh dear, more incentive to wait…and wait…and wait.
