@height8 Prior to moving here, I could never justify such purchases, but I cook at least once a day — now that classes are over, 3 meals a day. Nice equipment saves me time and injuries (nice, sharp, well-balanced knives that're made for the job), and avoids wasting food.

Next purchase: sous-vide circulator. Because I want to know what sous-vide, torched chuck steak tastes like medium-rare :D

@height8 I'd love to have a kitchen like your old one. My current "bar" is the top surface of my tiny wine cabinet, and I have a glass-drying rack that holds my most used glasses, which shares half the table with my coffee equipment. The kitchen's too small to take 3 paces in, but that hasn't stopped me from acquiring some very nice pieces (carbon steel, cast iron, and knives, specifically).

I very likely will shove it all into a crate when I leave. No way I'm hand carrying 2 pressure cookers, 4 pieces of cast iron, and a 1kg carbon steel wok to another city…

Was looking at knives…then I decided I should probably invest in an Edge Pro [edgeproinc.com] first…

Doesn't work at all on Chrome, but that's hardly surprising :P looks the same as the screenshot on Safari, just FYI.

Well we all know where that starts!

(With you.)

shame they can't bring themselves to have a 3pm meeting!

That was one hell of a dinner. Made some nice acquaintances too, might get some more invitations to tastings.

At a Taylor's port dinner.

Started with LBV 2011, going all the way back to the 1966 Colheita.

Shame I'm sat at a table of 3 really loud speakers. The kind who might well be tipsy already, but are probably just really extroverted.

not a meeting in person, I hope.

@height8 It will certainly be. Edinburgh looks more interesting for its degrees, but London would no doubt be a fun year as well.
