At the same time, there's also something to be said for Wabi-sabi, though I'm not sure what the App Store's for that would be.

Oh, that's what reposts look like!

Is that some conversation view, or did just send a modified C&P of my post?

Ah, I woke up with sore shoulders and a possibly related headache. Coffee, nice music, yoga, and some cheesy pasta has sorted that out. For now.

What's going on here?

I always wondered why Japanese didn't just adopt a purely phonetical writing system. Unlike with Chinese (which has too many homophones), it looks like Japanese wouldn't suffer too much from the loss of kanji.

I was never motivated enough to bother with Chinese at school. Had no use for it. Still don't, really, but feel it'd be nice to have another language (fully) under my belt.

I can't imagine learning Japanese. Too many writing systems, honorifics, emojis, massive phone cases, high-pitched squeakiness…

Traditional Chinese characters are actually unreadable on a 1080p monitor at regular font sizes. The strokes are too densely packed. Actually had to read grandpa's Whatsapp message on the iPhone.

And his written Chinese is a far more elegant style than I'm used to. Which makes a difficult task near-impossible: I can barely make out simplified Chinese characters as it is, often relying on surrounding characters, context, and Google/Wiktionary. But just using Translate isn't good enough: if I could get my head around declensions, it's surely just a matter of motivation when it comes to learning characters.

Problem is, I currently have very little opportunity to use them, so the motivation's not there.

Was wondering why the 4k video was stuttering so badly on my 1080p TV. And then I remembered: this one's connected by VGA, and probably not a very good connection either. My 1080p monitor, connected by HDMI, plays it just fine.

I'm quite sure setting up an IRC server is easier than everything you've done with 10C so far.

And really, now, if 10C were that bad, I wouldn't bother with it.,
