Wouldn't it be great if all cards (membership cards especially) could be half the size they currently are? It's not like they need all that space.
That's even more the case for all those door access cards etc.
@hazardwarning There are those that look like floor-standing fans and then have a hose that you stick out of a hole in the window, perhaps those might be less disruptive to the space as you could put it away when the worst is over.
Had a friend who lived just outside Paris and his country house was of the old sort — really thick walls so the interior was always around 20°C, even in July/August. Perhaps the alternative would be to pile rocks around your house.

Less so for news, perhaps because it's mostly those in academia who take the time to scrutinise anything published.
