Depositing my unused USD was painful. 2 bankers and a money counting machine that kept jamming took over 15 minutes to count out USD 806 and arrived at USD 801.
I gave them the breakdown of the bill count is done earlier today and, on the final count, they agreed with me.
Banks should pay interest per minute on any simple transaction that takes over 5 minutes.
Cathay isn't always the best airline but at least their staff (or the ones I've encountered) are smart, even if not always the most cheerful:
One of the staff managing boarding at the gate was holding a boarding sign for "First Class, Business Class, Marco Polo members". I thought that was weird, because usually only MP Silver and up board with business and first class. My Green tier is actually useless if you hold a Premium Economy ticket as it only allows Economy ticket holders to board in the Premium line
I asked her if all MP members were boarding now, she said yes and sent me to the business line. I thought that was weird but had time to burn even if it turned out to be a mistake, so did so.
The woman scanning my ticket told me I shouldn't be in the business line, as the Premium line was on the other side; I said her colleague had told me to be in this line, and she just got on with it and didn't bother arguing, likely because arguing would have slowed down boarding further.

I don't think they're aware of how tipping/bribery works in Vegas.
@matigo It is useful up to a point, but I have always preferred to dislike work just a little bit. That little bit of tension helps keep my non-work time fun and reminds me to keep a balance.
Of course, I wouldn't do a job that I genuinely hated. I'm just saying that feeling of "Aw, damn, work again today?" can be quite healthy.

Unbelievable. Some casino hotel bars are closed for Thanksgiving. This is Vegas, for god's sake…thank god I was jaded enough to call ahead and ask.
Damn. Everything's closed today. Half my itinerary made impossible because people need to eat a turkey.
@sumudu I often deliberately delay responding to emails to avoid encouraging bad habits. But it is an exercise in mental discipline not to have that email weigh on your mind during the fact.
@matigo yes and that's rather tragic in my opinion. No hotel on the Strip looks good in daylight and no interior uses any daylight, which for me is a failure of design because daylight is a priority for me in any interior space.
