This is weird. Trying to authorise Blurbybot on the MBA takes me to this weird login loop ("Click here to authorise" -> login page -> repeat) and Blurbybot never actually gets authorised.

Idiot waiter stood behind me with a bread plate gesticulating subtly for me to move my camera before picking it up and putting it 30cm to the right and saying "I'll just put that there…"

Why not 1) make yourself visible and stop pretending I've got my eyes on you 2) just put the plate on the other side of the table, lazy sod?

Sigh. The food had better be good.

Wow. That's a lot of effort, especially the BluRay part. But I need to seriously pick it up with physical backups too — CrashPlan works and I'll probably get on Glacier as well, at some point, but I have no physically accessible offsite backups…

How do you handle the distribution of files on BluRay? Tar in 100GB segments?

Had an appointment at this university I'm translating for at 11. Arrived 11:10. It's now 11:35 and all I've gotten is "I'll just be a minute".

I have a lunch reservation that I have no intention of missing after the stress of last night and this morning. The really cheap shipping company (that actually partners with UPS) won't give any coverage for personal items, so I'm pulling all the valuable stuff out to send in one box via DHL. Power cables and clothes hangers I can afford to lose, as well as some of my jackets, if it comes to that, but my kitchen knives and nice coats…

how're you backing up the NAS? To another NAS?

Reminds me of the time I nearly passed out on the Central line because it was so hot. I can't imagine 3 hours on trains like that in summer. At least Edinburgh has bearable summers. //

Ah, didn't know that made any difference. At least you have the luxury of a car though, I suppose. Public transport's pretty unbearable in this weather. //

It's always worth a shot. What if you brought it up at the end of the interview, in the interest of making your situation entirely clear?

No fan, no aircon, no source of breeze. It's a fucking oven in here. Need to have dessert (free — else I'd have disappeared a long time ago) and go home…

I can't stand polyester trousers in winter, never mind summer :o

No AC in the car then?
