Hmm, I don't have plans to make these notes public, mainly because there're a million wine blogs out there.

But my database is pretty organised, and fortunately has been quite well thought out since the beginning 3 years ago, so automatically generating articles would just be a matter of displaying a few query results concatenated into a text field.

Which databases? Mine? No.

Slowly working on normalising my tasting notes to the greatest extent possible. The only thing that's giving me real trouble: the "region" column. Because I would need a Dewey Decimal-style list of every wine appellation in existence to make that happen — to be precise, that would involve going down to the individual vineyard level of detail.

So one entry would be something like: Europe.Germany.Mosel.Bernkastel-Kues.Wehlen.Sonnenuhr.

The next entry might be: Europe.Germany.Mosel.Bernkastel-Kues.Zeltingen.Sonnenuhr

Very complicated.

Came across what looks like a pretty old DBMS called "ConteXt" [unixspace.com]. System reqs: "any clone of Unix and Windows NT. At present day the system was ported to Linux, FreeBSD, BSD/OS, Solaris and Windows XP/2000"

Love the UI.

Giving myself today to do pretty much nothing. From tomorrow for 10 days I need to get this essay sorted out, else I might not have time…I mean I do have a week between coming back from Milan and going to Paris…anyway, the deadline is on the day of a tasting in Paris.

I can't imagine having a meeting and only then seeing notes for the first time. I usually send people notes and related documents for meetings a day in advance :o (that way it's their fault if they're not prepared)

If only!

I ended up mapping one to ^ and one to $ for vim.

Well my parents and our maid, and she didn't take up a lot of space — a bed and a few drawers were all she needed. And I was young then, so I didn't have great needs either.

So much of my life at home happens at The Desk, I don't even care to have a sofa/armchair. The only thing I couldn't fit but might want is a grand piano.

All looks pretty normal to me, but that's by HK standards. Until I was 11, 4 of us lived in a 55m^2 2br; since 2006, a 75m^2 2br with a (massive) balcony, and a while back we bought a second 30m^2 1br apartment. It's all about using vertical space, which I've noticed a lot of people in Edinburgh don't do — ceilings high enough for a duplex but no tall shelves or anything.

Have a problem: the Ergodox has 2 keys that I can't think of a function for. And it's driving me crazy.
