Well, that'll wake you up, in multiple ways.

They seemed happy enough. Cloudless sky, 25°C. A pretty memorable circus performance.

The absolute lack of anything outside of the resort, and anything to do inside. It’s Guangdong’s answer to Disneyland…just…a lot worse. Never had such a grim series of meals — the cheapest restaurants in HK have more flavour. Watered-down broth and stringy beef.

And because it’s basically a closed community, they can charge whatever they want. So about 400% of what you’d pay an hour’s bus ride out for noodles in soup.

But the grandparents wanted to visit.

iPhone 7+'s SIM holder is very poorly designed. The silicon seal keeps coming out of alignment.

Also: it's good to be back. Boring trip, awful food, no photos. Totally not worth suffering the surveillance state for 2 days.

Off to China for 2 days tomorrow.

It'd be a nice place if it weren't for certain…things…or just one thing, y'know, because the individual doesn't matter as long as the Whole (singular) benefits…

Whew, quite an evening. 8 cocktails and a lot of networking, as well as a fun hour with the boss (introduced her to a new speakeasy, and she was very grateful).

They very rarely see me in anything more than a casual shirt and slacks. And they won't be expecting me to need to dress up for something so late at night.

Going to be an extremely long night. Dinner with grandparents, followed by a catch-up over drinks with ex and quite likely future boss, then rush off to a cocktail event I was extremely lucky to get a ticket for…

Grandparents are going to be quite surprised to see me dressed up.

HFS+, as 2 have been for the past 3 years and 1 for the past 24 hours…

Strange. All of a sudden, I can't move files on my external drives to the trash — I get a warning that they'll be deleted immediately.

Disk Utility's First Aid fails because it can't unmount the drive, but DiskWarrior reports the SMART status as being fine.

Also, one of the drives is 1 day old…

Might have to reboot. Again. 4 hours after the last reboot. Sigh.
