This seller who I wanted to buy a Swiss watch from…it's all too suspicious.

  • The photo of the watch they had on Chrono24 was the model I wanted. Said I wanted it and asked about payment etc., and then they said the manufacturer wasn't making it anymore. So why did they have a false listing? The guy's story kept changing as well. First, it was "Yes, we sell both variations of the watch", then it was "Can you confirm which model exactly you want?" (despite my sending the first email as a "question about this listing"), then "Sorry, that model isn't made anymore."
  • They list on Chrono24 but do the transaction on their own system.
  • The email is clients at bestswisswatches.ch, but their SSL certificate is only valid for .org.
  • A luxury watch company based in Lausanne whose rep replies Sunday dinnertime within minutes?
  • They said that if I paid by bank transfer, I'd get 3% off (because there'd be no CC fees etc.), but said it would be enough to put my name and a mention of the watch brand (not even the exact model) in the transfer notes. Didn't offer a reference number or any sort of traceability.
  • The straw: I can only find this seller/company mentioned on two forum threads. One never reached a conclusion, the other's OP concluded that he got scammed.

It could well be an A. I've been on A=415Hz for so many weeks now.

Never grew out of the early 2000s?:P

Jon Vickers singing a high B lying down [youtube.com] is absolutely incredible.

Just got an automated message from the uni server's spam/malware email filter. Seems someone tried to send "Document2.zip" containing "JS/Nemucod.CZ" to everyone in the year.

Nice to know something's being done right.

That's what has me worried about this dinner next Sunday…

Fortunately I can choose whether or not to enter that foreign land :P

Well at least you can rest assured that, as long as he's around, you'll never go hungry…unless he eats it all first.

I was rather hoping I'd left all that behind after year 9.

Wow, what a day. Wine tasting by day, then the legendary librarian's party by night. Left after the uni shut because they'd decided to sit out in the cold finishing the awful boxed wine with drinking games.

That, and certain things happened. Normally, it's funny when drunk people say things, but someone I'd only ever thought of as a friend — and will never be able to think of in any other way — decided to complicate the matter significantly.

And now I'm home, but the Facebook messages have started.

Think it'd be wisest to ignore them until the morning…
