Well they eventually gave up on the waiting game…30 minutes later…it was good whisky, but by the time we started, we could've been finished already.

@height8 Not too many scars, I hope?

Hearing dissonance resolved is like getting a tiny burst of dopamine.

"If you want to retaste anything, feel free" is never/always a good thing to say at a whisky tasting. The 58% ABV bottle magically became empty 2 minutes after he said that.

At some point I'll come out of this dream and realise that there's an exam tomorrow…ideally before tomorrow morning.

The tasting was supposed to start 20 mins ago, but they decided to wait because more people were on the list and were probably on their way.

Sigh. If they're late, let them be late. It's not like anyone wants to listen to the sales drivel anyway — we're all here to taste the whiskies themselves.

Called the bank's hotline and they said it would've been blocked regardless, which matches my previous experience where deactivating the VPN for the purchase didn't work either.

@kdfrawg I'm not entirely sure. Edinburgh's already given me a few offers for master's degrees, UCL has yet to respond. Edinburgh's deadline for accepting (with no commitment) is in 3 weeks. In any case, I need to get it done ASAP, what with visa requirements and all.

Even with my VPN, the anti-fraud system shouldn't kick in — all these sites (Amazon aside) send a code by SMS…sigh.

Fucking HSBC France keeps blocking my online purchases for "safety reasons". I've had to call to unblock just about every site, including Amazon. Imbeciles need to sort their shit out…

Not making sushi this time ;) I would like to try my hand at it one day…
