Oh and of course because the Notes interface doesn't have pagination, handwritten notes can't be exported as PDFs because the pagination cuts some lines in half.

To say nothing of the impossibility to have a high-resolution "save to image".

So, what, my handwritten notes are held hostage by Apple?

I really don't get it. This is probably the best tablet money can buy yet such basic things have been overlooked.

I just tried to handwrite an essay (exam practice) on the iPad with the Apple Pencil and nearly threw everything out the window: the finger/palm recognition is a joke.

I don't get why Notes doesn't have a simple toggle that makes the entire app reject all non-Pencil input, except for a scrollbar on the side and on the toolbar. Seems so simple — except of course Apple is now allergic to scrollbars.

Hm, I’m not sure I’d be annoyed about old money. It takes a lot of work to maintain wealth across generations.

I never understand why people get mad about that kind of thing.

But money is a funny subject.

Shake on the iPhone is fine. Shake on the iPad makes my wrists hurt and triggers accidentally more often because I often put it down on my lap quite quickly and then pick it back up again, which can register as a shake.

Still, I never got the hang of gestures using more than 2 fingers. I can remember a load of emacs chords without problem, but gestures…not so easy. Things like zooming and rotating are obvious enough though.

I don't really enjoy iOS/iPadOS' "shake to undo". This morning, it's activating on the iPad just from my putting it down.

Why not develop middle finger gesture recognition instead?

Ah.

Unfortunately there's very little in brick-and-mortar retail that I find interesting. I usually buy very few items, but high value per item, which means online prices often beat out those shops even on discount.

Oh? Why would that be?

Looks like Amazon US has resumed HK shipping for a few items.

Not that I'm looking to spend any money this month — or even next. Not whilst the stocks and indexes remain in the red (which I hope will be for a while to come).

HK’s done well with maintaining connection speeds. Doesn’t feel like anything’s changed here.

I have always enjoyed working from outside of the office. Far more productive: people don’t see me so they can’t come up and bother me with trivial questions — they have to think instead!
