Due to a slight miscommunication, I arrived an hour early to dinner.

Normally annoying, but in this case I got to taste all the champagnes they had — including ones that they weren't going to serve officially — before dinner, and have a second glass of each during and after.

Then I went for a martini in Dukes Bar, so that makes 10 glasses of champagne and 1 insanely strong martini over 6 hours.

Thankfully there's a direct bus back to my cousin's. Back to Dukes tomorrow for drinks with a friend now studying here.

Despite all of its problems and this obsession with CCTV, London may be one of my favourite cities in the world, just for all it has to offer. On par with HK — together they probably make up 2 of the world capitals.

@kdfrawg Exactly why I chose the sleeper bus — far less time wasted. I didn't sleep as well as I would've liked, but once at my cousin's I had a 2-hour nap, and that's proven to be plenty.

Someone has a portable AM radio on behind me (on the train).

Awful buzzing…

@kdfrawg 7 hours by sleeper bus to London. 5 hours by daytime train.

@skematica I don't hate Edinburgh, mainly because I was lucky enough to get one of the newest apartments in the city. I imagine that, whichever city I lived in, I'd be commuting regularly for events.

@kdfrawg Thanks! Discovered that the neck pillow is great, but I need to invest in a full inflatable pillow if I'm going to do this trip often…

@skematica Yep.

Where exactly are you? I have a full year here and don't intend to just go to London every time!

The countryside is bearable, for a short period of time. I spent a weekend in a friend's house in Bas Normandie last year — the chess, piano (when he played it, at any rate), and whisky made it quite enjoyable.

London for the weekend.

@skematica Thanks :) Edinburgh officially. Was in Glasgow last week. Seems like only yesterday…
