@kdfrawg There are cities like that. Some parts of HK do that to you too. In other parts, you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves.
@kdfrawg It is unfortunate that I've never spent more than a week in London, but the complaints my friend has about her department at UCL makes me wonder if Edinburgh wasn't such a bad idea after all — for studies, if not for lifestyle.
@kdfrawg Well I don't regret anything other than not getting another 20 minutes with my friend. London is really quiet on Sundays.
@hazardwarning I've had a look at ways to get to Dorset from Edinburgh. Doesn't look particularly easy :o.
Silly me. It was a 10:30 bus, not 10. But I had it in my calendar that I needed to be there for 10pm, because missing it wouldn't have been fun.
So I arrived at 9:30.
Played it a little too carefully, I think :o
All too soon, the trip is over. It almost seems like things have gone too well to be real this time, sleeping arrangements aside. Had a nice burger dinner with a friend.
Lunch at The Barbary.
Their wine markup is hilarious — though it is Covent Garden. Not having any anyway, not after last night. Food is excellent (based on cuisine from the Barbary Coast).
Due to a slight miscommunication, I arrived an hour early to dinner.
Normally annoying, but in this case I got to taste all the champagnes they had — including ones that they weren't going to serve officially — before dinner, and have a second glass of each during and after.
Then I went for a martini in Dukes Bar, so that makes 10 glasses of champagne and 1 insanely strong martini over 6 hours.
Thankfully there's a direct bus back to my cousin's. Back to Dukes tomorrow for drinks with a friend now studying here.
Despite all of its problems and this obsession with CCTV, London may be one of my favourite cities in the world, just for all it has to offer. On par with HK — together they probably make up 2 of the world capitals.
