Wouldn't that put people like out of a job? :P

Interesting, I regularly have plantar fasciitis on my left foot, but it's gotten much more bearable since transitioning to barefoot shoes. I suspect it might actually be the exertion of flexing stiff soles whilst walking that contributed to strain in that area. And 10 years of martial arts barefoot never caused me any similar pain, so it must be shoes and walking on hard pavements.

I gave up on sandals because it's too much trouble keeping my toes looking so presentable.

Vivobarefoot shoes are about all I wear now. I don't wear any shoes/slippers at home.

Have you looked at barefoot shoes?

Until about age 11 my favourite shoes were Birkenstocks, and HK being so hot I could wear them year-round. My parents blame those for my feet being so wide :D

Sounds like Nozomi's got one hell of a trip coming up.

Ooh, how about a rocket fuelled collectively by Twitter? The more people tweet, the faster it goes…

The advantage of academia, and research in general, is that there's no boss to breathe down your neck, and no one's unusable code to deal with (Word documents aside).

Quite the opposite actually. I'm breathing down people's neck to get approval for a proposed project…and until then there's not much to do but twiddle my thumbs and a few other things.

Today is my day off, I think. Event sponsored by a whisky company — they commissioned 5 bars in Scotland to come up with original cocktails using their whisky. Had all 5 and got passed 2 repeats by friendly bartenders.

Good thing I finished those documents yesterday before lunch. Think I'll have a quiet day of tea and reading…

Went to a cocktail event, got dragged to a gay bar, and somehow managed to make it home in one piece.

Oh dear it's going to be a long day tomorrow?

Nothing wrong with wine out of a bag: the best way to store an opened bottle of wine is to decant it into one :D
