@variablepulserate It's not an area with waves; in any case, I'd have to have the highway dismantled first…
(There is a sound barrier over the highway that doesn't look great but has cut down on the noise pollution quite significantly.)

Think I might have planted the seed of music in a friend who's basically spent the last few years so occupied with work that he basically hasn't had any hobbies at all.
This could be quite exciting.
@variablepulserate We're very lucky to have a massive balcony/terrace in this apartment (it's at least as big as our living room). We're less than 100m from the sea. Always fresh air and plenty of room for exercise during lockdown.
It definitely improves my mood to see the birds on our plants when I'm making coffee in the morning.

Stock and options trading is dangerously addictive, perhaps even more so than any video game I've encountered.
I have (almost inadvertently) spent the last 3 hours staring at 27 inches of colorful graphs and blinking numbers.
The allure of money…
@variablepulserate Sounds like a fundamental failure to grasp the science of transmission…

@variablepulserate Ha, wouldn't mind I'm sure. Or just a nice house that's not too far from civilisation.
Have always been a little envious of people who live in houses big enough that their hobbies are only constrained by finances, rather than by availability of space.
One of the things I'm struggling to adapt to with trumpet — even more than horn — is the incredible air pressure needed to reach the high notes and the ridiculous volume achieved.
Part of the problem, of course, is practicing in a small room without sound treatment: I'm sure the volume I'm producing is perfectly normal as trumpet goes, but it sounds absolutely deafening.
I'm quite sure the brass instruments have the steepest learning curve of any instrument group I've gone for. The only classical instruments that don't give you any visual indication of what note you're about to produce. Easy to screw up — and loudly.
@matigo If they made it mandatory only until the age of 14, maybe it wouldn't be so hard to persuade them to let go of that accent and speak Le bon français…

@matigo Ha. This is pretty much the only network I pay any real attention to, and even then it's taken me 3 days to reply…I simply don't have the inclination or energy to take on more at the moment.
Pretty sure that's also partially why my dating life is very quiet. (The other major reason is that my wine fridge and liquor cabinet at home almost has more variety — and likely better quality, and certainly better glassware — than a number of bars, so I'm highly disinclined to pay any markup.)
