I'm not sure stress ever gets that high with me :o A little bit of stress, of course, but just enough to motivate me to do a little bit every night and to be very careful with my time management. Now that we're this close to the end, I can pretty safely say I don't regret doing it the way I did — I was still going to parties and dinners throughout, and I didn't work at all over the Christmas and half-term breaks.

It is true that at some point you just have to stop tweaking and submit the damn thing. That'll be my biggest issue, I think, because I'm writing it in French — the first person to do so. Really need to be very careful with proofreading the grammar…

That sounds very much like my ideal work life.

That's a shame. Are the hours not regular then?

Reserved seating, I hope?

Had a talk with a friend today about how his dissertation was going.

With 9 days to go, he's only at 50% of the minimum word count (6000 words). He's not exactly a slacker, so he must have been reading continuously since November or something. Which leads me to think that whatever he hands in will either get the highest mark, or flop.

I'm very happy to be at the point where my appendices are done, and, minor edits aside, only the introduction and conclusion remain. If there's one thing I've noticed, it's that my stress seems to be decreasing as we reach the end, whereas many others' is increasing.

Well-deserved then! How far are you from London?

I rarely listen to piano music as well, the exception being fortepiano solos. I find string instruments so much more personal and, dare I say, nuanced.

Currently listening to Telemann's 12 fantasias for solo violin [youtube.com] :) When my finger heals I might have a go at playing some of them, they sound pretty accessible.

It all feels a little too quiet here.

Fortunately there are still some genuinely funny people left. Those posts, though, usually show up on FB as screenshots, so I get my fix that way.
