I really wish more hotels could follow Japan's onsen ones in having firm mattresses and a choice of pillows. Doesn't matter how good the hotel is, in North America both are always way too soft.

Hmm I don't think my mum pays Canadian tax on our HK apartments but I'm not entirely sure.

I do detest this tipping culture.

Went to a New Orleans-inspired bar for Memorial Day brunch.

Best pork slider I've ever had. Smoked for 6 hours, with a beautiful black crust; melts in the mouth but still has structure. And the smoked mustard.

And a long list of oysters.

Really good absinthe cocktails too. If I have a few more, Williamsburg might start to look quite attractive.
