@kdfrawg Thanks. These produce a very warm sound compared to the more neutral HD600s and DT880s that I’ve gotten so used to. Strange, really, with very tight bass, restrained treble, and relatively generous mid. For 60GBP for the whole set up (and both sellers gave me a pair of speaker wires in the end), I’m very happy — if I’d been lazy and gone for new active speakers (e.g. Logitech or Bose), I wouldn’t have nearly such good sound quality.

Acoustic Research A04, to pair with Sony SS86Es. Old stuff :D

The guy I bought that amp from was a real audiophile, of the very best kind. Gave me a 30-minute audition with 2 sets of speakers on the pretext of showing me what exactly I could expect, and gave me a ride home as well. Gave me a pair of silver-plated wires too…

Was going to put off picking up the speakers until tomorrow, but tonight is as good a time as any I suppose. Get it all set up before I go to bed…

Advantage of having 1 contract SIM and one PAYG: you can choose which number to give someone.

Disadvantage: forgetting the other phone and having to go all the way back home for it.

@kdfrawg I use earphones so little that having to worry about batteries would lead to me never listening to music whilst on the go. //

I've often been happy that I maintain at least one spare phone. It's unfortunate that this still basically needs to be standard practice though.

They've always felt horrendous to me. The wireless one, in the singular, might be good for phone calls, but little else.

@kdfrawg That’s what shocked my parents most when they first experienced French bureaucracy. My dad walked out of the bank a few years ago ranting “What bank makes it so hard for me to give them money‽ They should be the ones waiting on us!” Which, in HK, is how it happens… //

@kdfrawg A good way to manage possessions, even in a big house. My collection of kitchenware is unfortunately difficult to shift, yet each piece is so precious…

@kdfrawg Indeed. Bookshelf speakers. Everything second hand, of course, but that hardly matters.
