Taking advantage of having the university proxy to get as many ebooks as I can before the course is over.
It’s astonishing, actually, that it’s already the end of Wednesday. Clearly I’m having more fun here than in Paris. Many contributing factors to that.
This damn teacher (the one who insists that everything be handwritten and then complains that she can’t read anyone’s handwriting or identify the last name from the rest of the names to tick the box on her list of students): “Yeah, if your paper doesn’t have a tick on it [this is a pass/fail course], don’t worry, I didn’t tick them all but everyone passed.”
@gtwilson Don’t ever attempt to sit through a historically-informed performance of pre-Classical period music then — A=415Hz is approx. a semitone down from A=440Hz modern “standard” tuning. It might not be so bad if you haven’t seen the score, but following along with it really messes with your head.

@gtwilson I have pretty good pitch — don’t know if it’s perfect — but it is sometimes annoying, because it messes with me when I go from A=440Hz (approx. what my pitch is calibrated to) to A=415Hz to play baroque pieces.
Never too late to pick up a musical instrument. Failing that, have a go at the drums! :P

@gtwilson Music's helped me a lot with that. Having a piano to bash out some dissonance on is something I miss dearly when I'm away from HK.
Smaller instruments would work well too. I wonder if a wind instrument, which forces you to control your breathing, would actually be more calming.

I think this professor will drive me around the bend in about…1 more lesson?
@kdfrawg I always wonder what so many places were like before events like that. Shame I was born too late to see for myself.
