They should teach Radical Construction Grammar, which questions the existence of nouns at all… :P

@kdfrawg That's true, and if it comes to that I'll have to have a word with my parents first. I hope, but also truly doubt, that the threat of legal action will prompt him to at least acknowledge my messsages.

Yes, I was introduced to that scheme when I moved into this apartment.

It may be near impossible, but it took just 5 minutes of my time to send him an email every other day, and not an awful lot to send a few letters. Even if I can't get my money back — and my parents wrote that off so long ago they told me not to even bother chasing after it — I can make his life, and the agency's, just a little more inconvenient.

But I do fully intend on taking it to court if I can. Apparently it doesn't cost an awful lot — just takes time and persistence. Again, that small cost is worth it to bother him, if only a bit.

@kdfrawg It's curious that he would take this risk, knowing that he could be taken to court for it.

Unrelated: I'm not sure how this court thing works if I don't live in France, but I'm sure I'll find out soon…

Well, looks like this is really happening. Sending the ex-landlord a final request by registered mail for my deposit back, else I'm taking it to court.

Funny how helpful the French government with this: they have an entire page [service-public.fr] detailing what can and can't be done — with a a letter template.

And a bit of googling shows that having to fight to get the deposit back is indeed a frequent problem in France…(what isn't?)

I am so done fucking around with Latex and fonts tonight. Nothing seems to work and I'm ready to shoot something.

And yes, I know it's a reserved character. But having to type \textasciitilde{} is…

…sigh.

Fighting with Latex is so ridiculous. Why the hell is it so hard to get a proper literal tilde‽

@skematica You may or may not be serious, but I'd be willing. 42GBP/bottle, not bad at all IMO (but then I did start with Scotch whisky…)

@kdfrawg Get all the ducks in a row, then blindfold the fools in admin and line them up too…
