Me: Pupil master…
Her: Yeah, she's a barrister.
Me: You say that like it's supposed to unconfuse me.
Her: So when you want to be a barrister, you work for a year as a "pupil" and you follow/train under a "pupil master"
Me: Oh. Right. Because "pupil master" is kind of an oxymoron, which is ironic for a career that relies on words. But then they are really good at making words mean what they don't, so I guess that makes sense. Or doesn't, which means it does.

But I am rather tired tonight.
